Thanksgiving Place Cards

Today, I am over at Melissa Creates "attempting" to be crafty and share a fun Thanksgiving place setting you can easily do yourself if you're hosting this year.

Last year, I clogged the kitchen sink with potato peels and almost legit had a heart attack over such a thing. So why not add to my list of stresses and craft something while I am at it, right? But if I couldn't  do it easily, I wouldn't share with someone as crafty, and sweet as Melissa, so there you go.

Head over to Melissa Creates and see for yourself. XOXO, Nichole

Guest Postin' & Scenes from the Weekend

Don't the weekends always seem to go too fast? This past weekend was NO exception.

Friday night (after driving in the rain for an hour and forty effing minutes), hubs and I went out with some friends for bowling! I haven't been bowling in for-ever. Turns out, that  wasn't meant to be. The bowling alley looked like it hadn't been updated since I was born, but their prices were ridiculously high! So we found a dive-y bar close by and watched drunk people attempt karoake. People watching is my fave sport so I was good to go.

Saturday, we babysat the niece and nephew. It was raining on and off all weekend so it was a little crazy trying to entertain them. Luckily, these guys stopped by and helped keep the kiddos busy!

I *may* have left Uncle Jason to go get a mani/pedi with a girlfriend.

But met up afterward for lunch and the playground before taking them back.

I feel ya, kids
After too long of a nap after recovering from a late night out/early day babysitting, hubs and I hit up Chipotle for burrito bowls and caught a late night showing of, Seeking a Friend for the End of The World. I laughed, I cried (no, really I did). I love Steve Carell; there isn't a movie he's in that I don't like.
+

Sunday, was a bummy day since Debby was a real...downer (see what I did there?!).

How was your weekend?!

...AND...
I'm also guest posting for Asha today while she is on vacay! She asked me some fun questions...and I answered! Go check it out!

Asha, yours truly and our men {April 2012}

Guest Post: Krystal of Krystal's Kitsch

Meet Krystal! Most likely if you follow me, you've been following her for much longer. I trained Krystal on her first day of concession many years ago at our old AMC stompin' ground. Thanks to myspace (I know) and facebook, she was always a "friend" but not in real life so much. But we did seem to do a lot of the same things/go to the same places so why we never hung is be-yond me!

BUT then we both got engaged and I would fb message her like it was my job. Thanks to her I found our wedding photographers and we *finally* had a few happy hours! She is also one of the reasons I started to blog. And then after we both got hitched my wedding inquiries turned into...blog Q's. And then that preggo had to go and move on me...the.nerve. :)

So while Nichole is off drinking fancy cocktails on the beach on her cruise, the rest of us are stuck here counting down the days until our next vacations! Or, if you're like me, counting down the next time you can actually consume an alcoholic beverage...

... I'm Krystal and I blog over here. I've known Nichole since I was about 16 but we didn't really connect until a year or so ago (Am I right?! LOL). We always were doing the same things--baseball, bars, movies--but never got our acts together to hang out! Anyway, better later than never! ;) Nichole has been such a faithful blogger since starting up recently, and I'm so proud of her!

Since Nichole is off celebrating under the sun, I decided to compile some adult party ideas (complete with beverages!) for us regular folk to drool over. And, since I can't have a cocktail for quite a long time (Hello, pregnancy!), this post might be a little heavy on the beverages... ;D

Skinny Beer-Ritas. They claim not to pack on the pounds.
Your next party MUST:

Gummy shot glasses. Just drink...and eat!

Make ice cubs out of Kool-Aid and add to whatever beverage you might be drinking...

Very cute party idea... Washi tape around plastic glasses

Keep the booze cold -- freeze balloons!

A great gift for any party hostess...
Another ice cube trick:

Freeze lemons, blueberries, mint, etc. Perfect drink complements!
Don't forget about your furry friends while you're having your next backyard get together:

How awesome is that? I know that my dogs would LOVE it. They go wild over ice.
And, just remember...

Word.

Guest Post: Melissa at Truly Chic Inspirations

Since I love all things party, I actually have TWO guest bloggers from similar party/wedding/design worlds to post for me while I'm cruisin' away. First up is Melissa of Truly Chic. I haven't had the pleasure of meeting her in person (yet?) but I stalk her blog like no other. And thanks to email and facebook, I feel like I've gotten to know her a bit better too. I know you all will like her as much as I do!

I'm excited to be a guest blogger today for my sweet friend, Nichole. She's a fellow Sunshine State gal and has a fun blog... gotta love her!

My home away from home is Truly Chic Inspirations, a site I pour my love for parties and weddings into. If I'm not talking parties you can find me from time to time sharing crafts, recipes, music that inspires me, and random babbles. Well, enough about me... It's time to talk Spring parties!

Spring is my favorite season (minus the allergies) and I find myself hosting some type of party outdoors. I recently created a Chic Tea Party photo shoot to help pass on some Spring time party inspiration. We had a blast during the photo shoot! Tea, sweets, finger foods, floral and vintage decor, and friends are all that is needed to create a Tea Party with the ladies. Have fun with the food, create fancy sandwiches or pick up some goodies from a local bakery. Panera and Starbucks have some awesome scones and sweets. Search your home for decor. Books, signs/frames, and candles are great decor items you probably already have on hand, take advantage of that!

Have a romantic lunch date with your hunny or celebrate a special occasion by taking the table outdoors or by adding some simple touches to your current outdoor table. Spring brings us some of the most beautiful flowers and decor. Stop by the florist or local grocery and pick up a colorful arrangement to display on your table as the centerpiece. Not all celebrations call for tons of decor, sometimes keeping it simple is refreshing. Feel free to add 'touches' in other ways... garnish your drinks. If you're serving lemonade use a fancy straw or place a slice of lemon on the rim. You'll find that almost anything can be embellished and little touches can bring a lot to the overall look.

This Spring have fun! Set up a photo booth session, get silly, dress up, and have a ball! It obviously doesn't have to be a specific season to celebrate with photo booth props but have fun at your Easter celebration or set up a photo booth prop party for absolutely no reason at all. Let loose and wear those fancy outfits you've wanted to wear. There are many etsy shops that sell these awesome goodies but why not make a day of it and create these props together with your family and friends. Adding a photo booth prop area for Easter sounds fun, right!?! Create Easter bunny ears and funky paper eggs with funny sayings.

However you choose to celebrate this Spring I hope I've brought a little party inspiration your way. Stop by anytime and send me a little hello!

xoxo, Melissa C.

Guest Post: Lane of Murphy's Law AND Supper for a Steal

Happy Hump Day, ya'll! Today we are cruisin' to...nowhere! I asked Lane to guest blog for a ton of reasons. I had planned to tell you all why until I realized Lane said everything I was planning to, so I'll just leave it to her!

Hi friends, I’m Lane and I blog over at Murphy’s Law, but lately my life has been consumed with my new blog, Supper for a Steal. I love blogging and all the great friends I have made out of it. Nichole and I bonded over our shared anniversary. She is going on an awesome cruise to celebrate and my husband and I haven’t even thought about what to do! We have a lot more similarities like both being jobless hobos and previously working in insurance, being obsessed with our pups and enjoying day drinking (it’s a perk of being jobless.)

LHWedquick617

This is my first guest post, so please forgive me I have no idea what to talk about. I think I will just ramble on about my life and blogs. At Murphy’s Law I blog about our life. We have our house on the market and are searching for a new one. We have a sweet spot for the fixer uppers. I just finished wrapping up my wedding recaps (such a slacker) and now that I don’t have weddings or food to talk about, Murphy’s Law gets a little neglected. Once we buy our next house I will be back with plenty of projects. For now I am just covering the house hunting process. Supper for a Steal is my baby. I obsess over it. The concept is menu planning based on the weekly sales at Publix. Right now I only cover Publix, but I hope to expand to other grocery chains in the future.

The hubs and I were both born and raised in Florida, but I hate the beach. I often say I am going to the beach, but by beach I mean yacht club where I can be found eating and laying by the pool. We got married at said club almost a year ago. We had a beautiful ceremony near the beach, not on, obviously.

LHWed177

The reception followed in the clubhouse across the street. Where we ate yummy food, danced, had the most delicious cake in the world, and then left by boat. On our getaway boat my drunk former aunt, who was not at the wedding but lives on the water nearby, chased us down on her boat to give us a bottle of champagne. It was awkward, but we accepted and made our way to the dock where our friends picked us up and brought us to our hotel.

LHWed275

My friend, Allison, dropped the bottle of champagne as we were getting out of the car, so we will never know if it was a good bottle. We left for Antigua the Monday after our wedding and had a wonderful week of lounging by the pool doing absolutely nothing.

I hope you will join me over at either one of my blogs as we search for a new house/menu plan. Thanks to Nichole for having me guest post while she is cruising the Caribbean. I hope she knows how jealous I am. Oh and don’t think I could leave you without sharing a pic of my baby.

Guest Post: Jennifer from Starving, Insatiable

Today we are cruisin' to Grand Cayman. Hopefully as you read this I am walking on a beach somewhere... I asked Jen to guest post because her blog friggin' cracks.me.up. Plus, she's the ONLY person I know who watches as much reality tv as I do...she's a girl after my own heart. ANNND, she's fun and likes hockey! :0)
Hi all! I'm Jennifer from Starving, Insatiable! I'm excited to be here and happy that Nichole asked me to do the honors of being a guest. Some background about me is I live in Tampa, Florida (born and raised), I'm very close to my family and friends and I am a "reality tv" junkie. You can typically find me cooking, reading and eating out. Another thing you should know is I'm a reformed shopper.

Being a reformed shopper can be pretty boring. I don't have new clothes every week and I pine after lovely pieces of jewelry all the time. Fortunately, and unfortunately, I became responsible and stopped spending every last penny I had on frivolous items, no matter how bad I wanted them. Sure, I do spend, but I spend smartly now and budget for everything. And this new lifestyle, my friends, is where Pinterest comes in real handy. Since I'm always in want of something but also lacking in the money department, I online window shop. Somehow, when I add a pin to my boards, I feel like I'm placing an item in my shopping cart and as weird as it sounds, I actually curb my spending appetite a little bit, or rather, enough so I don't go crazy.

Today, because I know I'm not the only Pinterest-obsessed lady out there, I thought I'd share my most recent pins, as well as some recipe pins I've made recently that turned out oh-so-yummy.

First, I'd like to both curse and congratulate Kate Spade. Because I love to torture myself, I signed up for the Kate Spade emails and I have to browse whenever they come out with new items or offer their sample sales. I think there isn't a store in all the universe that I'm more attracted to than Kate Spade. Everything is so flippin' pretty. Recently, they came out with watches and of course, I had to have a look-see. I pinned 3 of them right away.

At $250 a pop ($295 for the thicker band), it'll be a long time coming until I feel comfortable enough to slap my plastic down on the counter, but they are nice to look at.

I recently bought myself an iPad (I know, I know, this totally goes against the entire intro of this post, but I never said I didn't indulge heh heh). I love Kate Spade's iPad sleeve!

After all, you have to keep your electronics safe, amiright??

Another item I pinned recently was a recipe for quick bread in a bottle. The idea is to make this and give it to someone, as a thank you or maybe even a housewarming present.

First, jars are always adorable and can help to serve as decorative pieces, but who wouldn't like to receive this? I'm thinking of making a couple for some friends of mine!

Speaking of food, the following are recent foods pins of mine whose recipes I've tried and have decided to keep and remake in my house.

Cilantro Lime Rice (like Chipotle's!) (via)

Roasted Garlic Whipped Potatoes (via - a favorite blogger of mine!)

Chicken Rollatini Stuffed with Zucchini and Mozzarella (via)

Lastly, as a little bonus for you all, I must tell you about some pins that I have in my Home Renovations and Motivation folders. I live in a condo with my boyfriend and we are going to be starting on renovations this year. I spend the better part of my days gathering inspiration from friends and websites so I know what I want when the time comes to begin. The first thing we must do is organize. Built quite a bit ago, this condo has a poor layout and almost no storage space. Obviously, as clean as I try to be, organization can be so hard and all rooms always look cluttered. While browsing other boards, I came across IHeart Organizing and fell.in.love. Totally and completely. Just take her home tour and tell me you don't feel the same. Anywho, I pinned her organization checklist:

A big part of my organizing is organizing my whole life. Aside from the physical organization (house, car, random files), I could use some life organizing. I am continuously budgeting, but I need to get on track for GRE preparation and grad school, securing a different job that will pay more and provide endless opportunities (plus be something I love) and work out/eat healthier, all things I've been slowly working on for a little while now. While browsing, I came across this:

(via)

I've found that the main reason I lapse on my diet plans are that I get bored with the food. I'm big on food and want different things that don't always taste like grain and, well, diet. This website, while still listing those snacks we all know and (sometimes) love, also lists snack ideas I wouldn't have thought about, mostly ones that are easy to pack for lunch or on the go! Check it out!

As much as I could go on and on, I'll stop here and do my obligatory social media self-promotion. Feel free to find me and friend me at all the below links. Thanks for reading!  :)
