Good-bye luscious locks

Last week Jason was a sick, sick boy and slept on the couch as to not disturb me with his coughing {he is a way better spouse than me}, at night.

And while he was starting to feel better come Friday night, he opted to sleep on in the living room one more night. But not before coming to bed and telling me he had something very important to talk to me about...

I legit thought something was wrong! In the almost seven years I have known Jason, I don't think I have ever heard him say, "I have something serious to discuss" {I am paraphrasing, just go with it}, and so for a hot minute, I thought something was really wrong.

What my husband wanted to "discuss" with me was that it was time...time to cut those luscious locks, ya'll.

If you read my initial post about Jason's hair, then you know his do' has been a topic of conversation at Casa de Crews for months now. MONTHS.

the emo look
Jason has always kept his hair short, but last March he realized that once he was an attorney, he could never grow his hair out. I mean, never mind that he has two and a half years left, and must take the bar, too.

I begged Jason to cut his hair. When friends or my family saw his hair, they raved about it, which did not help my cause whatsoever. So I gave in, and accepted the locks, and actually came to like them.

Jason and I are attempting to run, and when we do, he has to put his hair up with one of my hair ties, or if he is studying, he wears a headband. And occasionally I may have said he was "such a pretty girl", which I think he may not have liked, ha.

the after math
But the decision to chop it all of was Jason's and Jason's alone, and I couldn't be happier.

This was the boy I met seven years ago! I missed that guy...

How was your weekend?!

Nichole

30.

Today is the day, ya'll. I can no longer call myself a, "twenty-something". It's weird. I had teenage parents, and I remember BOTH my mom and dad turning thirty! It really is just a number, and for anyone else, I would say it isn't a big deal, but when it is yourself, it is a bit weird to say, right?

When you're in your teens, you can't wait to be twenty! And then of course, twenty-one, ha ha. But who says, "oh yay, I am turning thirty!!"?

But I am mostly happy with who I have become. I was a very {very!} unsure person when I started my last decade. I thought I knew it all, when I knew...nothing.

So in honor of my birthday, I thought I'd share...

30. Not everything is about you
29. Tis better to give, than to receive
28. Take time for yourself, sometimes {still struggle with this}
27. Sometimes, a ridiculous night of debauchery is in order; it makes for good memories
26. In friendship, at some point, it becomes about quality versus quantity
25. Don't be afraid to speak up for yourself
24. It doesn't matter what other people think
23. Even if it seems like SO many around you don't get "it", some do {which goes back to #26}
22. Patience is a virtue
21. Because somehow, it all works out in the end
20. Don't rush to be with someone, just because everyone you know has coupled-up. A lot of those people will be single, or divorced by the time you're getting married, or are happily married {thank GOD, I met a guy who was more patient than I was, and taught me to s.l.o.w. down}
19. Possessing etiquette and manners will make an impression and help you in many social situations
18. Don't be afraid to try new things
17. Don't be afraid to try new things, alone
16. Find something that drives you, and work your ass off to do it {even if that means a side biz, while working a full-time corporate job, because as #21 suggests, eventually it all pans out}
15. The older you get, the better quality of booze you shall need for a night out {or I promise, you'll pay the next day!}
14. Naps solve most problems, whether you are three, or thirty
13. Complaining just makes you look ugly {still trying to work very hard on this!}
12. Be true to yourself
11. Confidence is a sexy thing, no matter what your size
10. No one likes a sh!t talker; calm yo' self
9. You're never too old to watch Pretty Little Liars
8. Always trust your instincts
7. Try not to worry what others think
6. You'll know when you have found "the one", no matter how much you try and stubbornly fight it; resistance is futile. Go with it. He loves you just as much {as cheesy as that is}
5. As awkward as it feels, sometimes you have to step out of your comfort zone to grow
4. Being a grown-up is a pain in the ass
3. But the rewards for being said grown-up are SO worth it
2. Appreciate it all {no matter how big, or small}
1. Enjoy the ride

No longer a twenty-something,

Last week was the first time I saw this commercial. Appropriately, on Wednesday. I giggle every.time. Tell me you don't laugh, too? Simple mind, simple pleasures...or something.

You're welcome.

Thirsty Thursday

This title has nothing to do with anything, what so ever. I just liked it, and it's Thursday.

I have been kind of MIA here this week. I have been trying to work out every day after work and by the time I get home, take out the dogs, eat dinner, clean up {both the dishes, and you know myself!}, I'm effing done-zo. Plus work has been insane and I am a tad mentally exhausted, lately.

All is good at Casa de Crews, however.

I am working my first paid wedding gig all by myself this weekend. I haven't worked a wedding since Cross Creek Ranch. I am very excited, and lucky. My bride is way organized and is a friend of a friend, so while I will be coordinating and working this wedding, I don't think it will be as stressful as if my first alone event had been a complete stranger. Funny, how things work out.

The best friend and I each won a FREE House Party prize pack from Redd's Apple Ale. So naturally at some point, we're throwing a joint party....with free sugar water drinks. This pleases me like you don't even know!
Last time I had Redd's {one of them was not mine, thankyouverymuch}.

I have been on track this whole week with working out and exercising. I am so proud. Now, to just get through the weekend {where I usually fall off}.

Zucchini noodles, lightened up chicken parmesan, and crushed tomatoes.

Even the dogs and their cousin, Regi, could their walk on!
...and just because I miss prime time tv and love Ron Swanson, a little laugh for my Parks and Recs friends.

Don't forget to enter my giveaway from Easy Canvas for a chance to win a free 8x10 print of your own!

That's all I have...Be back, soon! {also, I just realized this was an instagram dump...}

XOXO,
Nichole

That time my husband went to the eye doc {six years LATER}

I love my husband, I swear it. He is one of the smartest people I know and also, funniest.
Sometimes you’ll hear {er, read?} me talk that guy up and talk about my love for him.

Today is not one of those days.

My usually very smart dude had not gone to they eye doctor in six-ish years. You read
that right, SIX years.

A year or so ago, his eyes started to really, really bother him. He did not go to the eye
doctor until, Monday. As in two days ago.

Turns out he has a corneal ulcer and can no longer wear contacts, ever again. That’s all
we really know at the moment until he can see a specialist next week. I am asking for any
and all prayers, well wishes and good vibes ya’ll can send this way that he won’t need
surgery of any kind.

Monday, we spent our night at a Lens Crafters getting new glasses for Jason. I’ll be
honest and say that I had never been to a Lens Crafters, Vision Works, etc and didn’t
know what to expect. I must say they were freaking awesome! Jason had his old glasses
{from six years ago!!!} and they read his prescription and got him a new pair of glasses,
no questions asked or eye exam, required, which he couldn’t take anyways, because of
his eye and he needs the ulcer thing {whatever it is}, to go down first.

You know I made him "model" various pairs of glasses and approve before we
ordered, right?

Two hours later and $275 gone, but my husband can see once more. Too bad these are
temporary glasses until he has a legit eye exam again. WOMP WOMP.

winner, winner

Lesson of the day: do not wait six years to see your eye doctor.

Finish The Sentence {link up}

I've recently become a tad stalker-ish with Holly & Jake {sorry, I'm not sorry?} and love this link up! If you have some randomness swimming around in yo' head, go link up, too!

1. If calories didn't count, I would eat...everything. The end.

2. On my Prom night....I was disappointed at how overrated it was. Also the lady that did my eyebrows made one significantly thinner than the other and I looked a lil' Asian. Thank God I have burned just about any and all photographic evidence of that evening. Though now for this link-up's sake, I do wish I had one photo.

3. When I go to the store, I always buy...cheese. It doesn't matter that we have four blocks or bags at home, its BOGO {again} and I needz to stock up. If the end of the world came by, at least I'd have cheese.

4. Family functions typically...laid back {with mah mind on mah money?} and a lot of swearing. We like each other, I promise. We just talk like a-holes. But really, we loves each other.
Don't let these sa-weet dresses fool you. We have some sailor mouths.

5. I think my blog readers...are my frands!

6. I'd much rather be.....blogging and watching reality tv with the dogs than go to work. How can I convince Jason that this is my calling?

7. I have an obsession with....all things yellow and grey, chevron prints, reality tv, the dollar section of any and all Targets.

8. My work friends....some of my best friends are co-workers! In my current job, its pretty high paced and most of my work friends are really just work friends, but they're really great.

9. When I created my Facebook account....I was anti-Facebook for-ever and then I finally caved. I'm a follower... MySpace for-eva.

10. My least favorite word is...the P word for women's underwear. It just sounds dirty to me.

11. I really don't remember...."To the nights we can't remember and the friends we'll never forget!" Also, besides that I really remember like everything.
Bachelorette weekend, 2011. Key West.

12. Justin Bieber....makes me sad. I used to like that little guy with his pretty hair. I'm twenty-nine and he makes me feel old, because I want to tell him, "Biebs, pull your damn pants UP".

baby fever.

I have the fever, baaaad. It's awful. I have heard the ticking recently but since I know we're nowhere near ready, I've told that little tick tock b!tch of a clock to hush.

But she isn't listening. She just gets louder and louder reminding me that I'm closer to thirty than twenty. And it doesn't help that a lot of my friends have recently gotten preggars OR are on their second baby, while I'm trying to remember if I gave the dogs dinner.

So since we're not ready {even as my ovaries continue to sigh at the sight of a baby}, I thought I'd try the next best thing; a photo generator of what our baby would look like {go here}.

I died. If we have a little girl, who is braiding her hair like this?!

So what do you think? Does this look like Jason & I?? I don't see it...

Baby Fever, it is SO bad.

Nichole

Love you, mean it

Happy Valentine's Day, lovelies! Whether you're married, single, dating, whatever  hoping today isn't just another day.

Tonight, the hubster surprisingly has off from class and we got tickets to the Lightning game tonight, which is what we did last year, as well. It's cool, I don't need a romantical Valentines day and actually when we first got together, Jason & I had season tickets to hockey games so when we do find a rare time we can actually go, I find it special. So, yea hockey will more than definitely do!

{Valentine's Day 2012}

Saturday, I told Jason I want to make some grand dinner for us at home {because back in the early days when I lived alone before J and I were super serious, I was poor and could only afford to make something cheap and easy at home} and I really plan to go all out. Um, but seeing as it is already Thursday, I have no clue what I am cooking? I am open to any and all suggestions...

....and while I may have a permanent Valentine, I do think some of the Valentine "traditions" are a tad overrated, I thought I would also share some funnies!

{this is the vday card I gave my bestie. I really would shiv a b!tch for her}

Funny Valentine's Day Ecard: I managed to secure Valentine's Day dinner reservations at both 4:45 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.
{The first Vday together, we had "dinner" at 5pm at the Melting Pot, as that was what was left. HAHA}

Funny Valentine's Day Ecard: Let's watch your shows this Valentine's Day.
{Not gonna lie, this would make me content}
XOXO,
Nichole

What I'm Loving Wednesday!

Happy Hump Day, ya'll! First, thanks for the love yesterday on my post about some things that were weighing heavy with me; it means a lot to get that kind of feedback. So, THANK YOU!

I have a lot of awesome things coming up in the next few days so I thought I'd join in on this fun link up (for the first time)....

Today I'm LOVING that I get to go with my friend, Shelly (and her  friend),  to the House of Blues in Orlando to see OneRepublic! I've never been to HOB so I'm stoked!

Shelly and I after a Lightning loss last year...

I'm loving that Thursday night/Friday morn (12:01am), I will be seeing the Hunger Games!! I know I'll be one of the oldest "kids" there but I so don't care! This is ONE of the perks of unemployment--I have time to do things like this!

Word...
I'm loving that I get to meet up with my lovely Tampa Blogger Gals Friday night for a bit before...we cruise on Saturday!!

Just a few of us--Photo Cred: Megan
I'm loving these fun, bright dresses that I bought for said cruise

And I'm always, always, loving this dude and our spoiled Gigi-Pie!

What are YOU loving today?

I need a new phone

I've never been one who keeps a cool head when I'm driving. I'm not particularly proud of this fact about myself. I mean I'm not a road rage kinda gal, either. But if I don't know where I am going I usually have a panicky state of mind until I get to my destination.

Last night, I met up with Jen & Lauren. The "plan" was for me to meet at Jen's place and drive together. I gave myself over an hour to get where I needed to go. But if you live in Tampa, you know  going anywhere after 4pm is a pain in the...arse.

It took me forever to try and get to Jen's place. My blackberry died last week and I am reduced to the world's crappiest phone, ever. I mean I should just be happy I have a phone in general but it doesn't do ANYTHING. Like have a GPS so I could find an alternative route, yes?

{Boo-hoo...}
So naturally the next most rational thing to do would be to call J and yell at him for not helping me to get a new phone, faster so that I couldn't find a new way to get to Jen's pad.

Sorry, babe. Thanks for letting me scream vent at the frustration of an antiquated phone. You're the best!

I think its time I got a new phone, huh?

Are you there Vodka....?

I never did  read the book but I think Chelsea Handler is pretty hilarious in general

I also love Laura Prepon (aka Donna on that 70's show)

But, I'm not sure about this {new} show?

I watched, and I laughed...

I didn't really like Whitney at first (this show somewhat reminds me of Whitney) and it grew on me and is one of my new fave  sitcoms...

I think I'll need to watch a few more episodes before I decide

Did you watch?

Eff Marry Kill linkup: Gilmore Girls

First, don't forget to enter my giveaway for a free jar of Kelapo coconut oil! Check it out here, ya'll!

**Now on to this ridiculously fun linkup!**

The few days that I did  have off from work for the holidays, meant I was home at 11am. When I was a kid, 11am meant The Price is Right. Now that I'm older (and Bob Barker retired) "if" I'm lucky enough to be home during the week, I love to catch me some Gilmore Girls re-runs! I don't care that I've seen every episode multiple times, this show is still my fave (after Friends, of course)

The Guys:
{Milo Ventimiglia, aka Jess}

{Jared Padalecki, aka Dean}

{Matt Czuchry, aka Logan Huntzberger}

 Believe it or not, I'd "make babies" with Logan. Just once. Perhaps on a bed of money? I mean, he was def a jerk and spoiled brat, but he ended up softening for Rory in the end and growing up on his own. His family was too snooty and he was not "the one" for the beloved Rory, but I see the appeal.

Jess, Jess, Jess. I loved you from the beginning. Not to mention YOU WROTE A BOOK FOR RORY! Plus, your uncle is Luke (and who doesn't love Luke?!). I'd marry you in a second (sorry, hubs)

It actually does pain me to say it, but I'd have to say good-bye  to Dean. He was an awesome first boyfriend for Rory. I loved him then. But after he decided to get married (after telling Luke he loved Rory!) to someone else and cheat on his wife woth Rory...I kind of lost respect for him. I mean the grown up Dean's got nothing on the teeanage version (and don't worry, I do know that these characters aren't real ;-))

Who would you pick?!

Eff Marry Kill: Take 2

Oh yes, linking up again with Heather and Michelle for some random Thursday fun. Last time I played, I did a Revenge post and so with keeping with my somewhat theme, I'm bringing in a new tv series, again. This time I'm talking about Ringer on CW. Ya'll if I could merge Ringer and Revenge, I'd have the per-fect show! Bonus because Sarah Michelle Gellar is the main character and I loved me some Buffy back in the day (and Angel, but I digress).

Here we go:

Andrew Martin, Siobhan's husband (Ioan Gruffudd)

Henry Butler, Siobhan's secret lov-a and her bff's husband (Kristoffer Polaha)

Agent Machado, the cop looking for Bridget/Siobhan (Nestor Carbonell)

I would eff Andrew; he's a big softie underneath it all but his daughter is too much drama for me. I'd marry Henry in a sec. OKay, so he isn't the most faithful of spouses but he did clean up the blood for Siobhan when he thought she killed Gemma. Plus, he's been on Life Unexpected and Mad Men. Marry, Marry, Marry. And I'd have to say good-bye to Machado. Dude just annoys me; always coming around at the wrong time.

Alright, kids your turn! Who would you eff/marry/kill?!
