Newlyweds: The First Year

Do you all even know my love for "reality" television? In some ways, I am quite embarrassed of it, but in other ways I don't even care that much, anyways what you think.

My newest obsession? Newlyweds: The First Year on Bravo. I love it and hate it and cannot.stop.watching.

As the title suggests, the show is about newlyweds. Four couples to be exact. Four very different couples. Two of the four couples had never lived together before marriage, and one couple were engaged and married only six months in. The last couple, my favorite, a same sex couple seem the most functional of the four couples, so far anyways. I mean it is Bravo, after all, they may turn out to be crazy at some point.

But what draws me to this new show is the struggles and challenges these couples all face. When I first started blogging as "Newlywed Nichole", I shared some issues Jason and I had. We still have some of those issues. I think we always will but how we handle them is what has changed {for the most part}.

I feel like a traditional marriage isn't what it used to be. I say that and surprisingly I had a pretty traditional courtship with Jason, but I also wasn't looking for it, nor did I ever expect to get married so there ya go. It comes when you're not looking for it, I suppose?

This past weekend, while Jason and I had a lot of fun in Orlando, we also got into a pretty big argument Friday night. It was a huge misunderstanding and it had been ages since we had a fight like that. I hated it and at some point we both kind of just walked away from it. We weren't getting anywhere and our issues will not all be settled overnight.

So anyways, this show, Newlyweds. I started watching it this week {now that Jason is back in school and I have time to be a bum, but I digress} right after getting over our argument and it brought me back a bit to the newlywed days for the Crews'.

Jason and I had both been and are still quite independent people. I am definitely an emotionally needy person {I like to think I am also pretty self aware too; trust me I know how I can be} at times and mostly my husband does a good job at calming his high strung crazy ass wife. Sometimes I worry that I will lose myself in my marriage. I think even after two years that is normal when you share your life with someone. And while my husband doesn't say it, I wonder if he thinks the same for himself because at times we both can be so damn stubborn.

I hope for these new newlyweds, they can sort out their first year issues and get through it. Jason and I have, and even with our differences, the good always outweighs the bad. And there is no one else I would ever want to fight with {and make up, rawr} than the guy I met at happy hour six years ago...

The Office

Today is the last  first episode of my all time fave comedy shows, The Office. Truth is, ever since Steve Carell, aka Michael Scott, left it hasn't been quite as good. But that doesn't mean I still didn't love the show! I still think one of my favorite episodes is when Michael burned his foot while making bacon, in bed. That's funny stuff folks...

...and Jim & Pam. Who else was dying when they finally got together?! I know I was, and their wedding made me tear up. I love them.
Will Dwight and Angela ever get together, again? When J and I first started dating, he would bring the first two seasons over on dvd and we'd lay in my bed and watch tv. Hearing the opening credits always reminds me of the beginning of us and who doesn't love the beginning of a new relationship? For that reason alone, The Office will always (always!) hold a special place in my heart... Are you a fan of The Office? Tell me your fave episode... XOXO, Nichole

Mush on mah mind {Monday Mashup}

As much as my husband loves me, the fact that I always have *something* to talk about because I have a gazillion random thoughts swimming through my head (at any one given time) doesn't exactly float his boat. That's why I am digging this link up courtesy of Mrs. Monologues: Monday Mashup.

And so, let the random thoughts commence...

On TV:

So thanks to my ongoing unemployment, the tv and I have had quite the relationship. Look, I'm not proud of it, ya'll but the fact remains I have watched a lot of the boob tube.

Let's talk season finales, first. Smash gave me the chills like no other. Good God is that show so good or what?! I felt so bad that Karen found out about Dev and Ivy, though.

Via
Private Practice: SAM PROPOSES? Mason calls Charlotte "momma" and Amelia has her brainless baby? Oh yes, tear city at my place. Again.
Via
And Grey's Anatomy: Was I the only one blindsided by Lexi DYING?! I was in complete shock, people. And the fact that the rest of the peeps were still stranded at the end of the season....?!
R.I.P., Lex
New (to me) shows: Since I have a lot of free time (obviously) I have been watching a lot of shows on Netflix that I had never seen before. I always meant to but never got around to them.

Jason & I just finished season 1. Holy Hell! And I freakin' knew  Peggy was preggo; with that jerk, Pete Campbell's, baby. I wonder what the heck is going to happen, next! GAH...

...and I just started watching
I'm only three or so episodes in, but it is such a good show. Oh mah gawd. Though, I LOL'd at the fact that Nancy's dead husband is Jeffrey Dean Morgan (you know, from Grey's. That guy can't catch a break!). I can't wait to watch more...

This upcoming weekend:
I still need to find my totally rad 80's costume for this weekend's party! I've shopped & shopped and let me tell you as much neon ish is there (now) is out there, I still haven't found my perfect outfit. I have some time, still...right?

On my doggy dog:
How could you not love her face?! Little Miss knows she isn't allowed on our bed but she climed up anyway and fell alseep (leaving me to look for her) and when I finally found her, I couldn't even be upset.

Somebody's been sleeping in my bed

Lazy Sunday

The next month, our weekends are going to be in-sanely busy! So today, hubs (Gigi) and I are vegging around the house and watching a few movies that are nominated tonight for Oscar nominations.

I'm pretty excited to lounge around with my guy and watch movies all day. Jason and I are both big movie junkies. Actually what I should say is Jason is a HUGE movie guy and thanks to the fact that I have had (mostly) free movie tickets for the last ten years, I am too.

We didn't get to see all the nominated movies this year, but we have already seen The Help, The Descendants and I have seen Moneyball (J has not, so I'm watching again).

Today, we're renting:

J is grilling steaks tonight while we watch The Oscars. I'm pretty stoked for a day of nothing...

What are you doing with your  Sunday? Are you planning to watch the Oscars tonight, too?

Are you there Vodka....?

I never did  read the book but I think Chelsea Handler is pretty hilarious in general

I also love Laura Prepon (aka Donna on that 70's show)

But, I'm not sure about this {new} show?

I watched, and I laughed...

I didn't really like Whitney at first (this show somewhat reminds me of Whitney) and it grew on me and is one of my new fave  sitcoms...

I think I'll need to watch a few more episodes before I decide

Did you watch?

Boob Tube Babble

Happy New Year AND Happy Birthday to ME! I say this because two shows came back on this week and I was one happy (birthday) girl!

I have made it no secret that I love trash-reality tv, ya'll.
...and Mobs Wives started back up this past Sunday

New War is right. Holy Hell....I made the bestie and husband watch this with me Sunday night and neither of them could understand how I watch this show (though I can't get into Jersey Shore and the BF4E loves it, so there ya go) . Um, sadly the first episode made me question myself. Did you watch? Last season was wayyy drama, but this first episode of season 2 was nuts and over the top (yes, even for me). Like what is up with Renee and her body  makeover?! She's a complete whack job to begin with and when she came out of surgery, she went hysterical and oh, you know split her stitches open (sorry, that's gross to even type about. I apologize)! I mean, if you'd just lie down like the DOCTERS WERE TELLING YOU TO....Then Drita and Karen get into it {again} and next week's episode Drita knocks some random chick out (guess the boxing lesson in season 2, ep 1 didn't squash your anger, huh?)...I'm going to give this show one more shot and see what happens. I was actually kind of disappointed in it.

Oh PLL, how I love thee....I have so many questions! Is "A" really who we all "thought" it was? I thought I knew but then they way the first new episode ended made me question myself. Ezra told the parentals he was in love with Aria...and then gets punched by Mike?! I seriously love  this show.

I plan to have a date on my couch with myself this weekend, and catch up on the new Revenge, Parenthood, Up all Night and Modern Family for this week! Woot-Woot!

TGIF, kids!

Eff Marry Kill linkup: Gilmore Girls

First, don't forget to enter my giveaway for a free jar of Kelapo coconut oil! Check it out here, ya'll!

**Now on to this ridiculously fun linkup!**

The few days that I did  have off from work for the holidays, meant I was home at 11am. When I was a kid, 11am meant The Price is Right. Now that I'm older (and Bob Barker retired) "if" I'm lucky enough to be home during the week, I love to catch me some Gilmore Girls re-runs! I don't care that I've seen every episode multiple times, this show is still my fave (after Friends, of course)

The Guys:
{Milo Ventimiglia, aka Jess}

{Jared Padalecki, aka Dean}

{Matt Czuchry, aka Logan Huntzberger}

Believe it or not, I'd "make babies" with Logan. Just once. Perhaps on a bed of money? I mean, he was def a jerk and spoiled brat, but he ended up softening for Rory in the end and growing up on his own. His family was too snooty and he was not "the one" for the beloved Rory, but I see the appeal.

Jess, Jess, Jess. I loved you from the beginning. Not to mention YOU WROTE A BOOK FOR RORY! Plus, your uncle is Luke (and who doesn't love Luke?!). I'd marry you in a second (sorry, hubs)

It actually does pain me to say it, but I'd have to say good-bye  to Dean. He was an awesome first boyfriend for Rory. I loved him then. But after he decided to get married (after telling Luke he loved Rory!) to someone else and cheat on his wife woth Rory...I kind of lost respect for him. I mean the grown up Dean's got nothing on the teeanage version (and don't worry, I do know that these characters aren't real ;-))

Who would you pick?!

Got a secret; can you keep it ...

Today I turned the big 2-8...We celebrated yesterday with friends at an awesome Sunday brunch and hit up a restaurant/bar after for football, drinks and Jenga. It was the  perfect way to start 2012 and also celebrate my birthday! I'll post in more detail about it later.

But I have to say that today I am most excited for the return of Pretty Little Liars. Now that I'm a 28 year old married chick, **should** I be embarrassed at how much I l.o.v.e this show?

Nah, I didn't think so either. Judge away, kids. Judge away...

Boob Tube Babble: So many questions?

Happy Friday, ya’ll! I’ve decided to link up with Neely & Ashley for a new post this week called Boob Tube Babble (I just started following these ladies and I l.o.v.e this link up!). Not gonna lie, I have an obsession with tv and it is bad. I also have some major questions for two shows this week:

Ringer…what the F is going on here?! My head is spinning…Okay, so recap: Charlie went buh-bye after making up his own rules; the real Siobhan came back to NY to take care of "business", Gemma was found and then just when you thought she'd be safe, she was killed. Juliet "claims" Mr. Carpenter and she did what you are not supposed to be doing with your teacher (I think she’s making the whole thing up)?! Oh and ya know, Bridget and Andrew are falling in love (of course Andrew thinks Bridge is Siobhan, anyway)? What.in.the.hell?! And now we have to wait until January 10th for the next episode…? Gah!

Tori & Dean started back up. I love them and their little (growing) family. I have some questions:
 1) I missed a few episodes last season and um, when did they get a pet goat? I’m lost on that
2)Is it just me or did she already look preggars a while before she told Dean? She had some baggier tops on and so I wonder…
3)I love how she told Dean they were expecting…if/when I get knocked up I may have to still that "announcement" for hubs…

Everything else I watch during the week: Desperate Housewives (I think I may be the last person who watches?), Grey’s, Private Practice, Revenge, Office, Parks & Rec, Whitney, Up all Night (told ya, ob-sessed) are all on hiatus until after the holidays, so now I have ample time to watch Friends re-runs and Christmas specials…

TGIF!

Eff. Marry. Kill.

Yay! I am doing my first link up as a newish blogger with Blonde...Undercover Blonde and The Vintage Apple for some Thursday fun! Everyone remember Eff, Marry, Kill? If not, it’s fun to play with a group of friends and some cocktails. I love to hear people’s responses, so funny.
I am on a major Revenge kick since I just caught up from the last two episodes and there are some way pretty people to look at on this show (if you haven’t watched it, check it out. It is soooo good).
Here we go:

Daniel Grayson (Joshua Bowman)
Jack Porter (Nick Wechsler)
Nolan Ross (Gabriel Mann)
I would eff Daniel in a nano second. I mean he is so easy on the eyes, right? His character is a bad boy turend good but his mom is insane and I just wouldn't want to deal with that long term (don't worry, I do know these characters aren't real). I would marry Jack (sorry hubs); he is so sweet, handy and hell-o, owns a bar! And sorry, Nolan but you are kind of a weasel to me, so I'd have to say good-bye.

Alright, kids your turn! Who would you eff/marry/kill?!

I'll be there for you.....

One of my all time, absolute fave tv shows is Friends. I know it's been 7 years since the last episode aired (yes, I had to google it to remember the year) but I still find myself laughing when I see re-runs on tv, or bust out my dvd's of this series. In my early twenties, I was too broke for cable so I watched this show. A lot. I love this show so much that our wedding party walked down the aisle to the Friends theme song .  It just worked for us.

Nick @ Nite has been playing a marathon of my fave show for the last week or so! At first, I was ecstatic, until I thought about it and then, I just felt old--I mean I remember watching Nick @ Nite as a kid with my mom where we would watch I Dream of Jeannie & Bewitched episodes (by the way, can anyone wiggle their nose like Samantha? I never could), not semi "new" shows, right? So I'm not sure what to think?

I guess until I can decide, I'll keep laughing and reminiscing with some of my favorite, "friends".

What are some of your favorite (past or present) tv shows?
