Thirty.

It has been thirty days since my first day at the new Youfit that I joined, and which opened January 28, 2013.

For the first time since I can recall, I am not restricting all carbs or crazy calories. I'm not trying to stop drinking, or eat only certain foods. I'm not giving up caffeine or eating grapefruit for breakfast. No cabbage soup diet. No crazy meal replacement shakes or bars. Believe me, I have tried it all.

I'm just...doing "it". Getting my ass moving as much as I can, whenever I can. I am sticking to my calories {find me on MFP: NikkiC1284) for the most part. I am still indulging but not over-indulging, and absolutely not allowing myself to feel bad after if I "screw up".

What have I seen in just thirty days? Well, I have lost seven pounds. If I am being honest, I am somewhat disappointed that the number is not more. HOWEVER, that is a healthy weight loss at 1-2 lbs/week and I have to constantly {and I mean constant-LY} remind myself that this time, it is different. And I think of my sweet friend I told you all about who took her time and looks frickin' fabulous. The time is going to pass me, regardless and at least there was no weight gain {amiright?}

So maybe seven pounds isn't a whole lot, when you're someone who wants and is used to quick results.

But do you know what else I have lost?! Back pain AND shoulder pain {I sit at a desk all day and honestly I have some terrible posture and sometimes I get really deep shoulder pain}}. I have learned to really enjoy working out {albeit, I am still going slow and not doing as much as I could be} and I have somehow in just thirty days, fallen back in love with cooking. Like, I find myself dreaming of recipes, pinning my heart out and  thinking on how I can "healthify" {its a word} a meal. I haven't felt that way about cooking regularly, since I was a kid. It's a whole new love affair.

And those are gains I can take anytime, anywhere. Bring it on.

Here is to the next thirty days!

Cheers!
Nichole

  2. 7 pounds is great! :) I've been steadily working out/watching what I'm eating for about 8 weeks and even though the scale hasn't moved as much as I would like, I FEEL so much better! I'm glad your shoulder and back pain is better too! :)

  4. You are doing great!!! 7 pounds in a month is nothing to sneeze at...and not dropping it all at one time the unhealthy way means you're more likely to KEEP it off!

  5. 7 pounds down is awesome!And as some commenters said before, you might be dropping weight more slowly than you'd like, but you're doing it the healthy way, which means the pounds have a greater chance of staying off. Keep it up, boo!

  7. You're doing awesome Nichole! And you are right, being more health conscious is a lot more important than the numbers. Never go by the numbers. Go by how you are feeling and it seems like you are feeling better. =) Keep being awesome!

  8. I'm so happy for you!! 7 lbs is awesome and it's only going to keep getting better as you stick to the plan. I know it's really hard to commit, but it's worth it when you see the number on the scale go down.

  9. Good for you! I love MFP ... and I need to start using it again. Regarding the pains - it will only get better. (My doc says each pound feels like 4x amount to your knees)
