Today marks Day 21 on the Whole 30 Challenge, ya'll. And I am bey-ond ready for it to end. I will absolutely be sharing my results, and a few more recipes, soon. In the mean time, I'm sharing my weekend, because it's Monday, duh.
Every January, Tampa celebrates Gasparilla; in a modern day nutshell, a parade of floats with krewes dressed in pirate garb, throw beads to celebrate. There is a supposed history behind this pirate fest, but for most, it's a lovely excuse to day drink and act a foo' in public.
Unless you're not drinking for 30 days, like me. Then you go because your friends are, and you just people watch and pretend you don't miss beer, or rum punch.
Though Jason and I didn't drink this year, we still enjoyed ourselves! The weather was perfect, and in the end, we weren't ready for bed by 5pm like years past, so there is always a plus if you're willing to look for it.
I love living in Tampa.
How was your weekend?

Nice pics! And happy no hangover day to you today!
ReplyDeleteSo jealous of your warm weather! Even without drinking I am sure it would be fun!
ReplyDeleteI never made it that close to the parade, good for you!!! :) And I am impressed you stuck with your Whole 30. I definitely broke my normal Paleo diet for Gasparilla! :)
ReplyDeleteOh Gasparilla. My company puts on their annual meeting in Atlanta the same weekend every year. While I always pout over missing out on the weekend, I do have fun living it through others. And lord - the outfits or lack thereof these kids are wearing these days. Now I just aged myself. Great. I do love the night parade though! I know you will be off of Whole 30 by then, so let me know if you are making it down for that. Also, I applaud you two for staying strong and not drinking this weekend!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh how fun! I love all the fun stuff you do. :)
ReplyDeleteDay drinking is an understatement, lol. Though I've never been I've heard stories. This looks like so much fun and hopefully I'll be able to make it one year!
ReplyDeleteAct a foo, lol isn't that the truth?! The people watching was great, although I did partake in many one too many rum drinks ;-)
ReplyDeleteOh Gasparilla.. I know all about that and you are totally right, lots of drunkenness!! haha! It looks beautiful there, makes me miss Tampa!! Glad you had a great time! :)
