Our Love Story {Linking up!}

Soooo, I found this link up through From Mrs. to Mama's blog and loved it! Plus it's almost Valentines' Day (and our first married one, at that!) so I like this link up even more.

1. How long have you and your significant other been together?
"Officially" we have been together 4 1/2 years

2. How did you meet? {What's your "love" story?}
We met at a bar (cliché). I know how unoriginal it sounds but it's true. We were at a mutual friend's birthday party/after work happy hour. I stole J's seat because he was by the only people I knew. When he came back I apologized for stealing his seat and he just said, "okay". The night went on and we hung a little but mostly with our respective friends. BUT like most happy hours, once the drinks started to flow, he and I sort of gravitated to one another and got to talking. Jason says I told him to put his number in my phone. I say he just called me (right there, at the bar!) and left me a voicemail that I didn't hear until the next day. I was so not interested in Jason. He was kind of goofy and I thought I was "too cool" for him...but he made me laugh so much and you know what...? In the back of my head I said, "I could marry this guy"...but blamed it on the drinks and the fact that I had just gotten out of an on again/OFF again messed up relationship. I should have listened to my gut all along, huh? Anyways, obvs it all worked out because I married the dude <3.

{THE night we met 6.29.07}

3. If married, how long have you been married?
10 months and one day :)

4. If you are married, where did you get married at? Big or small wedding?
We were married under these amazing oak trees at a ranch in Dover, Fl. We had an average sized wedding, about 110 people.

5. Do you have any nick-names that you call one another?
I call him boo, booz, baybee, asshat (yea, I know), boo berry and sometimes "bug" (as in bugaboo) but my sister and bestie kinda stole that one and it's not the same when I say it...J calls me sweetheart a lot and sometimes peaches, but that's about it

6. Name 3 things you love most about your honey.
How patient he can be with everyone and everything (esp yours truly)
How much he loves me
But that he can call me out on my ish when necessary

7. Tell us how he proposed?
Jason and a girlfriend of mine's exhusband share the same birthday. Jason talked my friend into convincing me we should throw the guys a surprise bday party. It was really to distract me from everything and to get our friends' all in one place. Jason was planning to propose ON HIS BIRTHDAY. I had no idea and really thought we were going to meet at our friends' house to then go to the party for the men (two days beforehand, Jason emailed, facebooked, sent smoke signals letting them in on the plan). Little did I know our friends and family were all waiting inside. What if I had said no?!
{Jason proposed 30 secs before we walked in. I was so overwhelmed!}

8. Is he a flowers and teddy bear kind of guy for v-day, or strawberries, champagne, and rose petals?
None? J has always gotten me practical gifts. Sometimes he surprises me with jewelery but mostly he gets me things I have wanted but haven't bought myself.

9. Are you a sunset dinner on the beach kind of girl, or pop a movie in and relax on the couch?
Both? I love going out but J is a stay in more kind of dude, so we compromise

10. Tell us one thing you'd like to do with your significant one day. If you could do anything? Go anywhere?
Take a trip to Cooperstown. We both love baseball and while I wouldn't love a vacay devoted to just that, Cooperstown has some quaint B&B's that I'd love to stay at. Sooo we could do both and both be happy.

11. Tell us what you plan on doing on this Valentine's Day.
I'm going to make something romantical (it's a word!) for dinner, on Sunday and then on actual Valentines Day, we're going to the Lightning game (GO BOLTS!). Hockey may not sound romantic to ya'll, but we used to go to and have season tickets for Lightning games all the time. So I'm pretty stoked.
{One of our first hockey games together, 2007}

12. Are you asking for anything this Valentine's day?
I've hinted at a gift. Nothing specific so we'll see :)

13. Give us one piece of advice of keeping a relationship strong and full of love.
Have patience with one another and be willing to compromise (I struggle with this often but it helps)

Link up and play. I want to know your love stories, too!
