January: Organization

Happy Monday {if such a thing exists}! I am finally back from the dead and if I am lucky this cold/flu/yuck isn't not coming back to Casa de Crews any time soon.

I feel like between our Vegas vacation at the beginning of this year + my pulled back muscle and getting sick means I am way behind on so many things in life.

Just like so many others, I did make a list of things to do in the new year and after reading The Happiness Project (I'm half way through),  I knew I wanted to kick start this year on a good note.

First up for January; organizing our pad! Our place is in beyond help right now. I used to be a person who was really on top of this stuff, but lately {and by "lately", I mean the last eighteen months or so} I haven't been able to get a good handle on it all.

I've also learned that when I {mentally} know I have things to do, I continue to put them off and when I am home, I don't want to do any of it. I just get overwhelmed until I physically must do.something. That's kind of where I am at.

Yep

How am I going to change this?

Well, honestly for what I have in store, it's going to take time and patience and I am hoping {wishing and praying} that by just doing a little  every day, I can tackle this mess. I'm not really good with the whole patience thang but that is something else I plan to work on....next month.

How do you combat clutter and stay organized? I'm always looking for tips!

  1. Glad you are feeling better! John is the organizer in our house. I can't do it. So I just follow his lead.

  2. I cleaned out my closet last night and even though I felt better after it was done it was a maddening process! I am glad you are feeling better now! My "trick" is that if I haven't used it or worn it in 2+ years it's out of there. haha

  4. I wish someone could give me tips to combat clutter... I really only have the motivation to do it in the summer time when the days are brighter and longer....BTW you're enjoying the happiness project, I couldn't really get in to it.

  5. The Happiness Project has made me want to simplify things and DO MORE at the same time. Completely conflicting.
I'll plan, plan, plan all day long, but when I get home from work and am confronted with the actual tasks, I shut down. I try to break things down, give myself 2-3 tasks to accomplish each weekend and one per weekday. Too much to do and I freeze up (like a computer).

  6. I want to read The Happiness Project so bad!!!

I am constantly trying to get organized. I think I've just came to terms with the fact that I am NOT an organized person :)

  7. That's really the key to staying organized. You have to work on a little at a time, so it doesn't overwhelm you! I'm doing that with our office right now!
