The Weekend Update. 1/20/2014

I have been such a terrible blogger, as of late! Life has just been busy, and then when I have had free time I have been too busy catching up on Dexter. Jason is re-watching, and I never jumped on the first go, but now, now I can't watch it fast enough. I feel like I never have enough time to catch up on tv, but when I find a Netflix series, I can watch like an addict, I pretty much stop all life to watch. Please, tell me I am not alone?! For Christmas, one of my sisters gave Jason a Google Chromecast, so now I can watch Netflix in our bedroom. Life is pretty good, folks.

Friday night, Jason picked up Chipotle for dinner where we found a Whole 30 approved meal! Glorious carnitas with pico, and guacamole; twas' delicious.

salad sans dressing: romaine, carnitas, pico, and double guac
But then Jason told me he had some "light reading" to do after he found a magazine of mine. He is such a smart ass. It has been almost a full year since he decided he wasn't going to cut his hair. I am praying come March, he'll get a friggin' haircut!

Saturday, my sister and I drove to Sarasota to visit the closest Trader Joe's near us. Sarasota is about 60 miles one way, so while it isn't close, I had been curious for a while about TJ's since they have a lot of organic finds that were rumored to be inexpensive. Other than the fact that it was cray-zay busy, I spent $65 less than I did last week at Whole Foods. But then I drove 120 miles round trip, so... at least it was something to do and I have tons of fresh veggies for the week!

Sunday, Jason and I went for a "run" {fat girl jog} and it was my second fastest time. I still have a long  way to go, but with just five weeks until the Gasparilla 5k, I am hoping my time improves with more training.

I also received my first BarkBox for the pups! I wasn't sure what to expect, but for the price, it was quite generous! The longer you subscribe, the less it costs. I don't know that I will do it every month, but it was a fun treat for the babies. If you have never tried, and want to save $5, you can use my referral link.

Make it a great week!

XOXO,
Nichole

I can't believe your Trader Joe's is so far away! I love love love shopping there! Don't you wish you could order online and have them deliver!? :) that's just the lazy part of me!

Sounds like you had a pretty rad weekend and a good mail day with the bark box! I've been curious about those and I keep going back and forth on if I want to try it out for our dog. With your referral link I just might!

Happy Monday and good luck in your 5k!

  4. I LOVE Dexter!! My fiancee watched every season and I jumped in on the last one. I'm not sure if I ruined it for myself, though, watching the last one and knowing what happens for when we start from episode 1.

  7. Mr. Big Truck keeps saying he is gonna let his hair and beard grow till Little Miss makes her appearance and I keep telling him if he does I will just take care of it in his sleep. So far it seems to work for me! ;)

  10. I love Trader Joe's but I wish more of their fruits and veggies weren't prepackaged! Did you check out the frozen stuff? They have some of the best frozen fruits and veggies! And spinach pizza haha

  11. I am just like you and get caught up on Netflix shows. I recently started watching Scandal and finished all the episodes in less than 3 weeks. Crazy. I've never been to Chipotle but all of my friends up north are always raving about it. We're finally getting one here, so I'll definitely have to try. I've also never been to Trader Joe's. Yay for the Barkbox! I want to subscribe to it eventually when I adopt my co-worker's puppy.

  12. You know I love me some TJ's! Glad you got to check it out! Also after your Chipotle pic I had to get myself a burrito bowl for dinner, too (but from a local place that's the same idea). The power of Instagram...

  13. Man, I love TJ's! I can't wait until one opens in St. Pete. I got addicted to Orange is the New Black on Netflix. It's all I wanted to do for days, so I understand.

  14. I can't wait for the two expected closer to us to open! The barkbox subscription was definitely worth it and after he uses up all the goodies he got I might subscribe again because so many of the things he got to try I wouldn't have picked out. I've never tried the Carnitas from Chipotle, but knowing that with the pico is Whole30 I might have to! I'm allergic to Avocados otherwise I'd slather on the guac too.

I'm definitely guilty of getting roped in and turning off life for shows.

  15. I can't believe you don't have a Trader Joe's closer to you! I love ours and shop there occasionally. I love their wine selection. ;-)
