Where am I going?

Do you think today's blog post title is too deep for a Monday? It may be, but that is where my head is at, currently.

This past weekend, I attended my first blog conference ever, Blog Fete. I had a great time, and feel super inspired! I also realize that this little ol' blog doesn't have as much direction as I would like. I met a ton of successful ladies; business owners from all spectrums, a few like me who have day jobs we're not passionate about and want to do more than we are, and a few who were professional bloggers; as in for a living. Whoa.

Do I know where this little page in the blogosphere is going? Nope, I sure don't. I do, however have some ideas after this weekend. It may take me time to get where I plan to on my site, but I plan to, soon!

Hey, that's me!

I recently had a conversation with a good blog friend, who asked if I was set on being a lifestyle blogger. She herself, is a foodie, and a great one at that! I know when she asked me, it's because she gets it all and knows having a few niches, rather than maybe one or two is harder to market yourself.

But the thing is, I love sharing my life with Jason, here. The whole reason I got into blogging was because I was a newlywed. Blogging about my life as a wife has helped me a ton. But of course, that is not all I am. I love to eat, and cook! This year, I have posted more recipes than ever before. My antipasto skewers even has over 1,000 pins! For me, this is a huge deal. I love planning parties, and yes I will forever be working on losing weight, it seems. The posts where I am the most real and share my thoughts and feelings get the most replies, and connections, it seems. I don't want to exclude that. And also, I love my city. Tampa is my home and I love exploring it and sharing it with you fine people. So I have a few things to figure out, it seems.

While I was away, Jason was a sneak and went to Ikea, bought me a desk, built said desk, and made room in our "office" for me to have a space to grow my site, and hopefully continue to grow my side hustle of event planning. I feel so fortunate to have such a supportive husband who puts up with my constant neurosis, and ever changing ideas. I may not know what I am doing with most aspects of my life, but at least I found the guy I'm spending the rest of my life with, right?

He even framed my blog business card.

So for today, that's all she literally wrote. I plan to share the first month of my weight loss journey, this week, and of course more on Blog Fete, as well!

How was your weekend?

XOXO,
Nichole

  2. Go Jason! I love that.

I think I need to do more recipe only posts. People seem to like those. But I know at heart I am not a foodie blogger. I am too into obnoxiously oversharing the rest of my life. hahaha

  3. When I saw that on Instagram, I just about died! How PRECIOUS is he to have done that for you??? Love!

I also struggle with not having a more concrete blog niche. But to me, the best blogs are the ones in which the bloggers are the most authentic. So trying to force myself into a space and/or limiting other discussion points isn't super appealing either. I suppose I'll just keep on trucking as I am. :)

  5. Jason is great! I'm pretty sure that would never happen in this house.

I think it's good to have a focus, but you also don't want to limit yourself. I'm sure you learned a ton of great info this weekend.
