Sixty.

I've been on another weight loss journey this year. I am sixty days in. Thirty days ago, I was seven pounds down.

Today...I am six pounds down, total. That is UP one since last month. I'm not mad but am disappointed {anyone else just sound like their mom in their head just then? Or was my mom the only one who constantly used that line? I digress} in myself.

I totally slacked off this month. My eating hasn't been terrible, but not stellar either. My workouts...have completely blown.

The only lame excuse I will give myself is after three or four consecutive days of doing cardio 45-50 minutes, I would be wiped out for the next two to three days. And wouldn't work out from sheer exhaustion.

When I asked my friend {the one who has lost forty-five ish pounds}, she said it takes time and even though I felt like 45-50 minutes of cardio didn't seem like a lot, it was for someone that wasn't used to it.

But I totally have used this as an excuse when I could. Has anyone else felt like this? And if so, how did you get past it? I would love any and all suggestions, tips, etc you have for me!

Other than that, I am very aware of what I need to do. I am aiming to lose that effing pound I gained and would be thrilled with another seven {a healthy 2lbs/week}.

So here is to the next thirty days, kids.

Cheers!
Nichole

  1. You are probably overdoing it on the workouts girl! Start smaller so that you can stick with it and then gradually increase the times. I need to workout more. I lost 17 lbs and then got stuck there. I need to lose more! I have been pretty good with my eating habits though. I have learned that you can eat at most places out, you just have to have a lot of self control and order salmon with veggies or salad with no croutons and light dressing. You can do it! Don't give up yet. <3

  2. Honestly I can't do cardio consecutively. When I'm actually working out I do one day of cardio (only like 20-30 mins) followed by a day of yoga. If I was doing cardio everyday I would burn out so quickly and become bored. So maybe try just every other day and doing weights or some kind of strength training in the off day.

  3. I woudl second what the other two have said. I would switch cardio with strength training so you don't burn out. Part of cardio is mental too, as it can get so boring. Find some strength training that you like, and you could also get some DVDs to alternate with the cardio days. I love Jillian's DVDs. Plus, they're only 20 minutes per workout, so it's convenient.

  4. Add some strength training!!! You will see more results by building some muscle to rev up your metabolism and help you burn fat. Do some HIIT style training where you are doing some strength moves and still getting your heart rate up. I promise you will see more results than just straight 45 minutes of cardio - ain't nobody got time for dat! Keep working at it though - you will succeed!

  5. I'm going to say the same thing as above. Do maybe only 20 mins of cardio. Just try to get moving. Even if its just a walk around the block. But the real secret to weight loss is in the kitchen. I lost 10 lbs last year mainlye by counting calories. I was also drinking Amazing Grass superfood powder. Using olive oil in everything. Substituting Greek yogurt where I could and eating a half of an avocado a day. Those are all belly fat blasting foods. Don't get discouraged. You are still on the down side!

  7. Girlfriend you are doing an amazing job! Slow and steady wins the race remember that. Also remember that it took more than 1 day to put it on so therefore it will take more than one day to take it off! You got this!

  8. I'm echoing what others have said: do strength training! YouTube has an amazing wealth of full workouts so you don't need to drop $$ on videos (unless you want to). I subscribe to the Be Fit channel, and they have some great workouts. And you can try different types so you won't get bored.

  9. I agree with the others, take it slower! And Jillian Michael's DVDs are amazing, I definitely recommend them. I felt like I was reading my thoughts of a month ago when I read this post haha! But I invested in the "Insanity" DVDs and just started on my second month - I've lost 8 pounds and quite a few inches. I'm not saying that's right for everyone since it's 6 days a week of workouts but the way you lose the weight is through interval training as well as "recovery" workouts and if you incorporate the same formula into your own workouts you should see some awesome results too without getting burned out. Wish you all the best girl!

  10. Have you started doing weight training at all? I've read about many bloggers doing that and that's when they started seeing some big changes. My diet hasn't been great this month and despite working out 45 minutes 3-4 times per week, my weight is basically in the same place it was last month. Good luck :)
