Book Club Friday!

Happy Friday, kids! A while ago, I read book numero dos in the Fifty Shades of erotica Grey series.

The synopsis
(per E.L. James' site)

Daunted by the singular tastes and dark secrets of the beautiful, tormented young entrepreneur Christian Grey, Anastasia Steele has broken off their relationship to start a new career with a Seattle publishing house.
But desire for Christian still dominates her every waking thought, and when he proposes a new arrangement, Anastasia cannot resist. They rekindle their searing sensual affair, and Anastasia learns more about the harrowing past of her damaged, driven and demanding Fifty Shades.
While Christian wrestles with his inner demons, Anastasia must confront the anger and envy of the women who came before her, and make the most important decision of her life.

I will say I liked this book better than the first. I was ahem; prepared for the kinky ish that occurred (thanks to the first book) and wasn't turning fifty shades of red anymore. I feel like the characters were more developed in this book, too. There are some things that annoyed me, however. Like why can't Ana freakin' be a GROWN UP? Even though she walked out on Christian in the first book, she went back and was too submissive & pleasing in book two (and I'm not even talking about in the bedroom, lol). But I felt as though there was more of an actual storyline this time.

Though, I am seriously having a hard time getting myself through Fifty Shades Freed...

To Be Continued...

  2. Ok I posted this on twitter yesterday, but I am really not understanding the hype... I am on the 2nd book now. They are entertaining, but I don't think the books deserve all the attention they've been getting. I guess it's all the sex. I agree, I think they both act childish sometimes there are some points when I just want to stop reading because of it.

  7. I still haven't read any of these...and still not sure if I want to. I have heard so many people talk about the poor writing that I'm not sure I want to waste my time.

  8. I totally agree! It was hard to get through book one even though everyone I know raves about it. I am simply reading it to read it and finish it at this point! I just started three and the going back and forth may annoy me but I do not think I am done with chapter one yet...

  9. I'm about 3/4 of the way through book 2 at this point. And I'm definitely liking it more than the first. Also so much has already happened with Ana and Christian, I can't really imagine what else there is to tell with book 2.

  10. I'm glad I stopped after the first book. I think I'd just be really annoyed with Ana.
