Breakfast at Tiffany's, dah-lings

Two weeks ago, if you didn’t read the post, we (being yours truly and the 3 bridesmaids) hosted a Breakfast at Tiffany’s Brunch/Shower to honor my sister. We chose to do a brunch, because sister loves all things brunchy (and we then could incorporate champagne in the afternoon, hell-o) and Breakfast at Tiffany’s, because it is one of her fave flicks.

Ever since my own wedding, I have loved being able to host themed inspired parties; to me it is a great way to celebrate the guest of honor. Plus, it is just more fun this way!

We sent out the invite and asked everyone to wear their best little black dress (or top). We handed each guest a string of "pearls" (okay, really just white beads) when they entered, and there were tiara barrettes at each place setting to wear (like the fab-u-lous Audrey would, darling). We incorporated the pearls into a game, as well. Any time someone mentioned the bride’s name, groom’s name or the word wedding, they lost their pearls to the person that caught them--littlest sister came of with this idea and was a hit with the crowd (pretty close to the clothespin game but pearls were just more fabulous for this event). We also had a game of  "How well do you know the bride and groom" that I ordered off Etsy. For $6.00, it was customized and all I had to do was print; so easy.

Not sister's exact invite, but this was the template from Flipawoo
Another great Etsy find!

We also had a Pin the badge on the Officer game, since sister is marrying a police officer…it was a lot of fun!

As a bonus,  I was able to find a sleep mask just like the movie as our blindfold! It was awesome and I wish I had ordered an extra for myself, to be honest.

My mother in law is such a good sport!
I had so many different ideas for table settings! But in the end, one of the bridesmaids, D, bought black and white tablecloths and very pretty runners to go with it. Littlest sister and I bought "diamonds" to scatter with a few strands of pearls as well (side note: before my own wedding, my friends' baby shower and sister's wedding ish, I had never been to a Michaels. Now, I feel like I should own stock!) It was simple but looked great. We don’t have the best photo of it, but we also had a welcome table with photos of Holly Golightly and an engagement photo of sister as well as a glass bowl with damask print paper for the guests to leave the bride to be well wishes + advice. I was able to buy a ton of fun photo frames from Marshalls for relatively cheap (cha-ching).

Since I have an Italian momma, I always worry that there won’t be enough food. But the menu was a hit and some people went back for seconds, so you know I was a happy host!

The spread:
  • Mini Quiche (Lorraine and Florentine)
  • Cheddar Biscuits (major props to hubs, I had a slight meltdown near the end (it was pouring rain, the clubhouse had 7 dehumidifiers scattered around and we had to have maintenance move them in less than an hour for set up, had to finish cooking, a car we were using stalled, shall I go on?) and he made these for me; love that guy)
  • Stuffed Mushrooms with Sausage
  • Veggie Tray
  • Fruit Kebabs with cream cheese dip
  • Tortilla Chips with Spinach Dip
  • Mimosas (I am a LOVER of champagne)
  • Frappucino Bar
Frapp Bar with instructions ($1.48 frame from Target that was per-fect!)

Fancy milk, ya'll

D made these a-dorable cupcakes that had cookie dough filling. I sort of helped her the night before and they were ridiculously easy (and tasty). Another bridesmaid, N, made Oreo Balls and brought the candy (shark fishies and jellybean favors) that are sister's fave treats...

I had to improvise on a cupcake stand (if you only knew the HOURS I spent looking for the prefect stand, you'd be sad amazed) and purchased damask and tiffany blue wrapping paper and covered boxes to make a "stand"…I don’t think I have a career in the catering industry (though maybe some event stuff, if I am lucky?Call ME) but I am proud of how it all turned out!
My self made "cake stand"
Shauna received some great gifts and minus the rain, it was a great day and way to honor my beautiful sister! I can’t believe three weeks from today, she will be a married lady just like me (two weddings in one year, my poor parents).
A whole mess of rain wasn't stopping us!
