89

There are just eighty-nine days left until I turn thirty. Thirty-three days have passed since I last decided to get extremely real with my weight and goals for finally shedding said weight.

First off, thank YOU all who have been so incredibly supportive! I was absolutely terrified to share the actual number on the scale, but in some ways that has been the most empowering of experiences when it comes to my weight loss battle, and journey. So many folks have given me their suggestions and tips and what worked with them. I appreciate your advice and know it is always welcome, here.

I also would like to mention the people who want me to join their weight loss groups. Most everyone who has wanted me to try their Advocare, or shakes, or link ups, I also appreciate your enthusiasm. Right now, however, being one who has yo-yo dieted since she was seventeen years old, is trying something new this time. Just going slow and steady. Maybe when I am closer to my goal weight, I will be interested in something to help me and get me over the hump, but currently I have to do things this way. I don't just have twenty pounds to lose. Not that twenty is an insignificant amount to lose, but I have probably four times that to lose, realistically. And it will take time. And for once I am okay with that. My goal this time around is progress, not perfection.

In sharing the number on my scale, I have been so much more accountable as to what I shove into my pie hole. If I have a cheat meal, mostly I want something quality like a good happy hour with friends, or a filet stuffed with blue cheese from a nice steakhouse with a side of lobster mac and cheese. I did that last month, that's why I specifically used those examples. I'm not saying I can always afford to indulge like that, but damnit, if I'm going to eat over my calories, it has to be worth it! Now, if I "cheat", I want something indulgent, not a Nacho Bell Grande from Taco Bell, or burger from Mickey D's. The better quality of foods I eat, the less I want.

I would say 85% of what I ate in September was clean. Unprocessed, prepared at home meals, eating organically when I could.

My work out regimen was just okay. Some weeks, I k.i.l.l.e.d. it. And others, you're lucky I was even there. I did mostly cardio, however. Each month I am setting new fitness goals; I plan to share October's goals soon, but for now, I am showing you results.

So in one month eating mostly clean, limiting booze, and working out, I lost 6.6lbs!

Was every day spot on? That would be a Hell no. But I mostly kept it in check. I think I could also have done better, of course. But I am quite pleased with one month of results. No crazy diet and exercise. Still living my life, indulging and enjoying. And savoring, more.

  1. That's a great start!! 6.6 pounds is a great loss. 1/2 pound-2 pounds per week is what's recommend so you are right in line with that! Keep up the great work!

  7. Heck yea you should be proud of 6.6!!!! Good for you and keep it up. I totally agree with your take on just clean eating and working out - save the Advocare, etc. for later. Ultimately, this is a way of life - eating clean. And "abs are made in the kitchen, not the gym" rings so true. You keep eating right and working out and just wait to see where you end up! I'm excited to follow along on your journey. Slow and steady wins the race and 1-2 lbs. a week lost is a healthy rate - keep it up!!!!!!

  8. Whoohoo!!! 6 pounds in a month is AWESOME! I think you're going to be so thrilled once you hit your goals and realize that it's a new lifestyle you've embarked on, not just some yo-yo diet that's not maintainable. YAY!

  9. You should be proud! Especially proud that you're looking at it the right way...it's so not about a quick-fix. One of my acquaintances here sells Advocare...or whatever it is...she's always shilling that stuff to whoever she meets. So annoying.
