Do you ever have so many ideas in your head, and goals you want to achieve, that you don't know what the heck you're really doing? No, just me then?

This post is a hodge podge of the many different thoughts swimming in my head. Sometimes, just like when my house gets cluttered, when my mind becomes this way, I am blocked, and sort of shut down, feeling overwhelmed with all the things I want to do and not really sure as to how to get there.

  • I booked another wedding to coordinate! I still someday hope to professionally plan events as a career, but it will take me a long time before that can happen. I think though, I want to get certified as an event planner, and register a business name, to motivate myself to grow this passion, and do more. The only real name I liked was something along the lines of Four, Nine, Eleven productions, to incorporate our wedding date--until Jason pointed out the nine/eleven...womp womp. I don't want to associate my {future} business with something tragic, and I am back to square one.
  • I'm not sure where to take my blog. Lately, I have had more and more views, and unique visitors and this of course makes me happy. Should I care? If I want to grow this thing, than sure. Is it worth it? I don't know. What is my goal with this little space I have in the blogosphere? That is my question, often.
  • We decided to renew our lease another year. Everything I personally like to buy, isn't OUT of our price range, but we'd be pretty house poor if we did so right now. Plus, our leasing company was only going to raise our rent $29 which is a steal, in my opinion. And, I just got a small raise at work, and the pay increase will more than cover the rent, so we're still ahead of the game.
  • Which means I want to get better about budgeting. I plan to share an entire post about our expenses, and all that jazz, soon. But really we're doing great and can do whatever we want. I mean, we don't have a pool of money like Scrooge McDuck {though, tell me that wouldn't be awesome?}, but we're not hurting either, for once. And I want to take every advantage we can of this, while we can. Meaning, before we have babies.

  • I'm tired of being fat. I'm tired of posting how I want to lose weight, need to lose weight, and then...not losing weight. I mean this last bullet pretty much speaks for itself, right?

So that's where I am at. Overwhelmed with all the things I want to do, and not sure how to necessarily go about it all, at once.

How do you manage your goals?


  1. I've tossed around the idea of becoming a personal trainer (except for the fact that 50% of the time, I hate exercise). If we lived closer, I'd love to work out with you. I'm losing motivation and I don't even have advice. I do know that exercise helps, but it comes down to food. Blah, right?

  2. A motivational quote: A year from now, you will wish you started today! All progress is made incrementally. A mountain is never climbed but one step at a time. A race is never finished but one stride at a time. Celebrate each small success & set small, incremental goals. This is how we end up achieving. I am helping my Mom on her weight loss journey & her goal is to lose about 55 lbs. She often sarcastically says things like, "I only have 50 more to go..." but this attitude is self-defeating. So I respond with - "You're doing great! I'm so proud of you for losing 5lbs already!" If you think about it, 5 lbs is 10% of her goal. Set lofty goals, but celebrate small milestones along the way. This is what makes the journey fun & the results greater.

  3. That ecard is so true. My brain is always on overload. I can barely sleep most nights. Mostly I think about how much I can't stand the stress of my job any longer and about weight. I've always struggled but now that I'm pregnant everyone is telling me I should be bigger for 5 months. It's so frustrating. Keep your chin up!

  4. Congrats on the booking of the wedding! Super exciting! I think with starting a business, it's all about baby steps and taking them one at a time. It's really overwhelming to think about the overall grand scheme of owning a business, but if you can reel it in and think about it in smaller portions, it makes it easier. I haven't registered a business name or anything like that, but I figured that I could at least go ahead and start working on a business logo and website and an Etsy shop. Those are easy little things to do (well not EASY but they're not overwhelming at least!) while I get things up and running. One thing you could do is make business cards if you haven't already! Then at least you'll have something to hand people, even if it's just a phone number and email address!

    Regarding weight's honestly just mind over matter. Eating healthy and exercising isn't HARD in and of itself, but it's having the brain motivation to do it that's hard. One thing that's really helped me (I'm still working on the exercise part, haha) to eat properly is to put the My Fitness Pal app on my phone. That way I can see EXACTLY what I'm eating and how many calories I'm consuming and what KIND of calories. 1200 calories a day sounds good on paper but if it's all wine and candy then you might as well be eating 5000 calories a day. My favorite thing to remember is kind of cliche, but it's so true : Eat to live, don't live to eat. Eat things for a REASON, not just for the sake of eating. Food is fuel for our bodies, plain and simple... :)

  5. So awesome that you booked another wedding girl!!! Love that you are getting so much experience now you will be a pro in no time :-)

  6. So many great goals! Hmmmm, I like making lists and prioritizing. If I were you I would go down each goal and see how often you would have to work towards them and start from there. By that I mean-- Weight Loss would be a daily goal. Bugdeting would be a biweekly or monthly goal(depending on how you get paid), blogging may be a weekly goal, and Wedding Coordinating may be another monthly goal. That way it doens't feel like you are dealing with EVERYTHING all at once.

  7. In another life, I'd be planning weddings and events too! I actually got my degree in hospitality management/event management, but it was so hard to find a job in that area when I graduated (2007-2008...economic downturn, say what). If I could've found a great job with an event firm, I don't think I'd be back in school right now to be a nurse. I have friends book me to coordinate their weddings or kid's birthday parties and I LOVE it! One day, hopefully I'll be a labor and delivery nurse, so I'll be celebrating events (what could be a bigger event than birth??) all of the time ;)

    Totally with you on the last bullet...we can do it!

  8. That e-card is one of my favorites and how I feel all the time, too! My brain is constantly swimming. I find that making a to-do list helps, and only try to tackle one thing at a time! You'll get overwhelmed otherwise!

  9. Things never work out like we plan, you just have to keep trying. Don't give up.

    Wow your wedding date is difficult to use in a name. Everything I come up with has a down side 411 (also the directory number) 409 (household cleaner) 911 (obviously out). Maybe if you do spell it out and do Four. Eleven Productions?
